Truly sad news -- Angel Yates - Rest in Peace

Wed Jul 8, 2009, 5:51 PM
I just received news of the passing of a great student, an extremely talented artist and a loving mother and wife.

Angel Yates was in my Storyboard class over a year ago, but I still remember her as a brilliant student that stood out with her charming characters and exceptional drawing skills. She just graduated from the Art Institute of Tampa about three weeks ago. She was just embarking on her artistic career where she would have excelled.

I'll be honest -- if you totaled the amount of time that we actually spoke, it would be less than an hour. But you can get a sense of the person in that time and Angel was a special student and a special person. She worked nights as a police dispatcher and spent her very limited free time creating some beautiful artwork. Please go to her Deviant page and take a look: :iconinqy:

You shouldn't have to hear about your students passing away this soon. The teachers at AIT will miss you Angel.

I'm sorry to hear of this, far too young. I'm sure she will be greatly missed.

I never knew her. :/
I saw her art at school tho it played on the TVs in the lobby.
Such beautiful work. :/

I knew her... We spoke a lot. Not a lot, but enough. Angel never said much. We immediately hit it off because we had the same name.. I can't believe she died... how did it happen??

(by the way, Brandon, it's Angel. "Killer Kev" Angel. Cookie linked me to your page.)

Oh man, that's horrible. My condolences to you and her family, Brandon.

It's odd, she was all over the place here, I found out about this from a friend of hers I know through cyberpet adoptables. :( It's really sad.

I didn't know her personally, but I found her work to be AMAZING. I would see her work around the school, and be very impressed.

It's really horrible to have seen her pass at a time like this, where she could have launched her career.

My prayers go to her family and close friends.

Her work is very impressive.
